Just a heads-up for those who care: On www-talk now there's a discussion of site metadata and whether it can be considered authoritative, and over what. This relates to the TAG's work in the area of naming authority (URI ownership) and authoritative metadata. It also connects to the recent flurry of activity on the Link: header, which also has authority issues. Anyone who cares about this should probably take a look at the active thread on www-talk. Following is a link to one of the more recent messages: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-talk/2008NovDec/0033.html Archive index by thread: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-talk/2008NovDec/thread.html I'm not proposing to discuss (or not discuss) the issue here. Best Jonathan
