Well, as I understood it the "no deep linking" terms are what one has to 
agree to to get access to the membership-only part of the site, and that 
they apply to the content thus enabled.  Since I chose not to confirm the 
"I agree to these terms" box, and thus chose not to accept membership, my 
understanding is that the agreement would not apply to me or to any 
content to which I had access without membership.   Too bad, as it seems 
an otherwise interesting site, but I won't sign up if those are the terms 
of membership.  By the way, I should clarify:  the linked document in 
question is not specifically a copyright notice as I think I said in my 
first note, but rather a "user agreement" for the Business Week online 
site.   If there's an an additional user agreement covering terms of 
access to the main user agreement, I am not aware of it :-). 

I am not a lawyer, but I am not aware of any law that would prohibit me 
from either passing you a link or making a fair use quote from the text of 
the user agreement document.  I believe that they were asking me to enter 
into an agreement (perhaps legally a contract?) that would have obligated 
me to refrain from deep linking, and I chose not to accept it.  I know 
you're just pulling my leg, but I personally don't believe that linking to 
the agreement is prohibited by any rule that I'm aware of.  If it is, I 
sincerely hope Business Week will accept my apologies.
