Dear www-tag,
This is a summary of the TAG's activity from 10 June 2003
(end date of the previous summary [1]) to 9 July 2003.
The TAG had four teleconferences during this period. Summaries of
those meetings are linked from the TAG home page [2].

1) Issues
The TAG opened one new issue during this period:
putMediaType-38 : Relation of HTTP PUT to GET, and whether
client headers to server are authoritative
The TAG discussed most of its issues during this period, in
preparation for its July face-to-face meeting. Issues receiving
particular attention included contentTypeOverride-24,
abstractComponentRefs-37, whenToUseGet-7, xmlIdSemantics-32,
and metadataInURI-31.
Details about discussions and related actions are available in
the meeting minutes linked from the TAG's home page. The TAG's
issues list is available at: http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/ilist
2) Findings
The TAG published one new draft finding during this period:
"The Use of Metadata in URIs"
http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/metaDataInURI-31
The TAG also continued to incorporate review comments
into revisions of the following draft finding:
"Client handling of MIME headers"
http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/mime-respect.html
The TAG continues work on, but did not publish new
revisions of the following draft findings:
"How should the problem of identifying ID semantics in XML
languages be addressed in the absence of a DTD?"
http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/xmlIDsemantics-32.html
"URIs, Addressability, and the use of HTTP GET and POST"
http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/whenToUseGet.html
More information about TAG findings is available at:
http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/findings
3) Architecture Document
The TAG published the 27 June 2003 draft of "Architecture of
the World Wide Web" [3] during this period. The TAG expects to
discuss this draft, or a subsequent Editor's draft with a few
additions, at its July face-to-face meeting. Although this
draft remains incomplete, section 3 is much more complete than
in previous drafts.

4) Communication
1. The TAG and Voice Working Group have engaged in fruitful
discussions on the definition of the "type" attribute in the
Voice WG's "Speech Recognition Grammar Specification" (related
to issue contentTypeOverride-24). After email exchanges and
discussions at two teleconferences, the two Working Groups
are satisfied with the results.
2. Participants in the SYMM IG have provided valuable input on
the TAG's draft finding "Client handling of MIME headers".
5) Upcoming events.
The TAG will be meeting face-to-face 21-23 July in Vancouver.
Many thanks to Antarctica, Schemasoft, and BEA Systems for
co-hosting the meeting.
For co-Chairs Stuart Williams and Tim Berners-Lee,
Ian Jacobs
