-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 / "Bullard, Claude L (Len)" <clbullar@ingr.com> was heard to say: | that as an inline hyperlink. It seems what Tim is | asking is for Outlook to recognize feed:/ , turn it | blue and make it clickable such that it opens the | RSS client without knowing that .rss is at the end | of the string. Is that it? Is Tim asking not only | for a new URI type, but for a new URI handler to be | added to all text display clients so it recognizes | feed:/ ? Yes, I think so. My own experience[1] suggests that adding handlers for new URI schemes is easy. Doing it for MIME types is harder, but I still think that's the right way to go. Tim, why doesn't this work, in principal? 1. User clicks on http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/ongoing.rss 2. Browser gets back application/rss+xml (or whatever) 3. Application hands URI to correct handler 4. Handler does the right thing | and pass it that value, using the usual hyperlink object | voodoo VBA provides. Cross-platform VBA. That *really* will cost extra. Be seeing you, norm [1] http://norman.walsh.name/2003/11/05/tel - -- Norman.Walsh@Sun.COM / XML Standards Architect / Sun Microsystems, Inc.
