This simply looks like a bug, introduced somehow in the second edition of SVG 1.1. And it clearly notes: 'The normative definition of these keywords is found in User preferences for colors ([CSS2], section 18.2).' Therefore the bug has no normative consequences. I think, in the first edition, such a problem does not occur: http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/REC-SVG11-20030114/types.html#DataTypeColor For example SVG tiny 1.2 explictly notes 'an arbitrary number of decimal places may be supplied'. http://www.w3.org/TR/SVGMobile12/painting.html#colorSyntax Olaf
