Dear Scalable Vector Graphics Working Group, It seems http://www.w3.org/TR/2004/WD-SVG12-20041027/ still does not require support for text transformations such as uppercase or lower- case transformation. Consequently, if presentation is desired that does not directly correspond to the casing and/or capitalization of the text, the text must be encoded differently. This is highly undesirable for a number of reasons such as increased maintenance cost, reduced access- ibility, and possibly negative effects on text searching and sorting. With SVG 1.2's advanced capabilities to include remote data, the lack of such a feature would force authors who desire such transformations to implement such transformations themselves in dynamic scripts which is a generally poor solution. I thus request that facilities are added that allow transformation of text, in particular http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-text/#caps-prop features that correspond to CSS' text-transform property. Further, the font- variant property should be changed such that font-variant="small-caps" is guranteed to yield in small caps presentation. regards. -- Björn Höhrmann · mailto:bjoern@hoehrmann.de · http://bjoern.hoehrmann.de Weinh.
