The disposition of this comment in the LC replies list should be "disagree" (with respect to the network portion of the comment). The SVG 1.2 Tiny specification currently has two network APIs, getURL/postURL and the "Connection" raw socket object. While I have some concerns about getURL/postURL being in a graphics specification (matter for another comment), they do at least provide a web friendly API. Providing a socket level interface is both too low-level and out of scope for an two-dimensional graphics XML language.
