SVG schema: Relax NG or not?

The SVG WG (its chair actually) said it would like to choose Relax NG as
schema format for the master schema:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-svg/2003Apr/0096.html ,
but sees issues.

Now XHTML went with RNG as main (and currently exclusive) format:

http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml2/
http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-xhtml2-20030506/
"This version includes an early implementation of XHTML 2.0 in RELAX NG
[RELAXNG], but does not include the implementations in DTD or XML Schema
form. Those will be included in subsequent versions, once the content of
this language stabilizes."

B. XHTML 2.0 RELAX NG Definition
http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-xhtml2-20030506/xhtml20_relax.html#a_xhtml20_relaxng

C. XHTML RELAX NG Module Implementations
http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-xhtml2-20030506/relax_module_defs.html#a_relaxng_module_defs

Perhaps Relax NG is a candidate format for the main SVG schema?
