Or you might want to look forward to see a miracle that the emerging ISO/IEC 19757-7 work *could* produce for namespace-aware processing with DTD syntax, or expect that someone writes a DTD-aware RELAX Namespace processor (theoretically RELAX Namespace could be used to combine schemas from different namespaces written in any schema languages, including DTD).
