Re: Proposed Resolution: Specify preferred-text-scale as an environment variable

Hi Simon,

We took the group's concerns and questions from the last call to heart. The
group ultimately requested an explainer, which +Josh Tumath
<josh.tumath@bbc.co.uk> and I have published here
<https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/blob/main/css-env-1/explainers/env-preferred-text-scale.md>.
We put a lot of effort into building a comprehensive explainer that
discusses how our proposal fits into, and improves, the existing ecosystem.
We think all the questions raised on the last call are answered there. If
you have additional feedback, please file issues against css-env and tag
@davidsgrogan @JoshTumath.

We learned a lot during our explainer research, but the proposed
environment variable behavior that the WG resolved on in January did not
change as a result. (We actually spent a lot of time talking about
alternative API shapes during that process–two of them are mentioned in the
explainer–and found the original WG-resolved one was best.)

Thanks,
David
