The CSS WG has published a First Public Working Draft of CSS Text Module Level 4: http://www.w3.org/TR/css-text-4/ This module defines additional properties for text manipulation. The main work on CSS Text is still being done in Level 3. So until that work stabilizes, CSS Text Level 4 is a diff spec containing only new material. This level turns white-space property into a shorthand for new properties controlling whitespace collapsing and trimming. This level introduces new properties for controlling line breaks, including forced line breaks, balancing line lengths, and hints for where to avoid line breaks where possible. Hyphenation properties, a character-based text-align value, and the text-spacing property deferred from the last module level are included here. Please send any comments to this mailing list, <www-style@w3.org>, and please, prefix the subject line with [css-text-4] (as I did on this message). For the CSS WG, Alan
