I'm on vacation this week, back next. I have opinions on this topic
(and from skimming email they may differ from Tab's opinions) so
request that it be deferred one week.

HCL is normally called LCH (or LCHab, to differentiate it from LCHuv,
though the latter is rarely encountered). It is simply the polar form
of the rectangular Lab, with a hue-angle and a chroma.
