To be clear, a few days work for someone already familiar with the 
selector-matching bits of the engine.  All of whom are occupied doing 
other things.

Because other things (e.g. acute performance problems on real-life 
websites) are more important.  What those things are probably varies by 
implementor.

There are strong desires from authors for many other things as well,
