Even if an author tests all the widgets on a particular OS, it's still possible for some widgets on other OSes to get messed up. That's fine. Text vs background, the most important distinction, is captured in the set of names I gave, so you could do that. I actually highly doubt they'd want to. Android is currently on a Material Design kick, which specifies a bunch of that stuff pretty precisely. I could be convinced of this, with some more examples. Let's start by taking screenshots of as many inputs in as many OSes as possible, and collecting them somewhere. I've started a css-forms ideas doc in the repo, feel free to contribute more to it.
