Bringing this thread back to the original topic... Again, every browser currently has a FontFaceRule#style property. The Fonts spec currently describes fiction. Do we intend to seriously try and shift implementations over? If so, great; let's start - as the author of the spec attempting to break from current implementations, John, and one of the maintainers of the relevant code in Firefox, I'd love for you to start it. We're happy to follow once there's evidence the compat pain is bearable. If you're not willing to do that, I'd appreciate the Fonts spec changing to match reality, and I'll change Font Loading to match. ~TJ
