That proposal means that "flex-basis: <any-value-valid-for-'width'>;" is exactly the same as "width: <same-value>;", *except* for "auto", which means something totally different. That's the whole reason we adopted the change we did. auto/content means "You can set flex-basis to any 'width' value, except "auto"; if you want it to act like "auto", say "content". Saying "auto" instead makes it default to the value of the actual 'width' property.". ~TJ
