CSS Working Group,

Some benefits to semantic CSS classes and XML namespaces, including with web components:

Modular design.

Structural and semantic vocabularies.

Semantic styling and styling of set algebraic combinations of semantic classes.

Enhanced search as per RDFa.

Enhanced desktop search, e.g. of digital books in users’ collections.

Enhanced navigation of documents.

Enhanced navigation between documents, e.g. URI fragment identifiers utilizing structural vocabularies.

Enhanced document summarization.

Web browser engine optimizations for web components.

Platform, browser and browser plugin features based upon semantic content, document structure and semantics.

Anecdotally, numerous Working Groups might disagree with your opinion about XML namespaces.

Kind regards,

Adam Sobieski
