The CSS Working Group has just published the "CSS Image Values and Replaced Content Module Level 3" as a W3C Candidate Recommendation. http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-images/ Changes since Last Call are documented in the Changes section: http://www.w3.org/TR/2012/CR-css3-images-20120417/#changes And Disposition of Comments is available: http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-images/issues-lc-2012 W3C recommends that you use these new features and, especially, implement them in software. Let us know about problems you find in the specification when you do that. The specification will remain a Candidate Rec for at least six months, in which time the working group will collect a test suite and prepare an implementation report.
