The CSS WG published the first WD of CSS Regions today: http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-css3-regions-20110609/ The module introduces properties to chain "regions" together, so that content that is too long for one region continues in the next region, and then the next one after that, etc. Regions are created with the Grid Layout module (http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-grid-layout) and possibly in other ways, too. In the future, we expect to add another module (working title: Exclusions) so that regions don't even have to be rectangular. Think filling up a series of circles with text from a single element... This is early work, the syntax isn't stable, we also don't know if this will remain a separate module for very long (it could be merged into Grid Layout, e.g.). But comments are very welcome. If you want to send comments, the best place for them is this mailing list, <www-style@w3.org>, and please put [css3-regions] in the subject line, as I did on this message.
