Speaking of exaggerations. Sure, it's only boxes with text content we're talking about so that should be very localized :) Setting width:0 does the trick; that it's not obvious is one thing. But if authors had to explicitly set width:0 every time they make an element flexible then something is wrong; could width:auto resolve to 0 if the element is flexible ?
