The CSS WG published a new draft of "CSS Styling Attributes Level 1" (previously known as "Syntax of CSS rules in HTML's 'style' attribute"). This is intended to be the last call for comments. http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-css-style-attr-20020515 The draft defines the syntax of the STYLE attribute in HTML (or similar attributes in other languages) when it contains CSS. It's simply the syntax that HTML has defined since 1998, but in a convenient specification that can be referenced, and with more precise conformance requirements than was the custom in 1998. In particular, the intention is that the future HTML5 specification will cite this specification. Because the draft is very short and defines nothing new, we thought the review period didn't need to be very long either: the deadline is February 9. If you have comments, please send them to this mailing list, <www-style@w3.org>, and prefix the subject line with "[css-style-attr]" just like I did on this message. The next step is most likely a Candidate Recommendation, to give us some time to write a test suite. (There are no doubt hundreds of implementations already, but we do need a formal test report.)
