Ah yes, I can see that. It is really an offsetting of the path (an outward offset for positive numbers and an inward offset for negative numbers), to use Adobe's language. But we already use the term "offset" for describing the translation from the position of the element's border box, and we don't really ever refer to a "path" elsewhere.
