The actual namespace is

   http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace

I cannot get to your actual tests for some reason (w3.org is down?) but  
that is probably the reason it does not work. Firefox defaulting some  
prefixes is certainly a bug, but this would be the wrong mailing list for  
that.
