Non-ASCII characters in CSS

Hi,

Please forgive me if this is an old question but is it actually wrong to
have non-ASCII characters in CSS? i.e., is this invalid:

#fundación {
   background-color:#fff;
}

I ask because the validator throws it out but it seems a bit harsh!

Thank you

Phil.
