"render something", yes;
"render what the author intended" : an impossible dream.

Far better to render what the author apparently
intended for valid markup, and to display an
error message otherwise.  Only by so doing will
we ever have a hope in hell of bringing sanity
to the chaos that currently masquerades as "HTML".
