http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/#the-background-break continuous For block-level elements, 'continuous' works identical to 'bounding-box' I don't think this is what we want. Consider a block that breaks across a page boundary. It's not clear what the bounding box even is. Consider a block that breaks across a column boundary, we probably don't want the bounding box in that case. We want something like the treatment for inlines but in the vertical direction. Rob -- "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." [Isaiah 53:5-6]
