Dear CSS-WG, [chair hat on] Recently there have been some questions in our working group about whether CSS 2.1 (which is after its last call, but not yet in CR) has addressed our (and other's) concerns regarding the use of IRIs for references. My understanding, currently, is that CSS 2.1 does not reference IRI (RFC 3987) for resources identifiers. I cannot find your issues list for CSS 2.1 nor specific responses to comments from our WG in the archives (although I've found some quite old email threads, including some from myself "in a previous life") discussing IRI vs. URI. The most recent reference to this is as "ISSUE-79" from the SVG-WG (which was detailed to I18N-Core to follow up on). Notably mentioned here: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2006Dec/0021.html The Internationalization Core WG has rechartered since the end of your last call and we would like to request the current status of this issue so that we can ensure a good mutual understanding of the resolution (or not) of the problem of supporting (or not) IRIs is arrived at before CR arrives. Thanks, Addison -- Addison Phillips Globalization Architect -- Yahoo! Inc. Chair -- W3C Internationalization Core WG Internationalization is an architecture. It is not a feature.
