The CSS working group published a new working draft today: the CSS3
Backgrounds and Borders Module.
http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-css3-background-20050216
This replaces two earlier drafts, one for backgrounds and one for
borders. The reason is that this new draft allows to specify images for
an element's borders and background with a single property
('border-image'). This property (we think) is much simpler than the two
dozen or so border properties we proposed two years ago, while
retaining the essential features.
That's not the only big change. The background properties have been
extended and now allow multiple, overlapping background images for a
single element.
There are many questions in the draft and feedback is very welcome.
Please, prefix the subject line with [css3-background], as I've done in
this e-mail, so the editors can find relevant messages more easily.
For the CSS WG,
Bert
