This is the CSS WG's response to an issue you raised on the last CSS 2.1 draft (http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-CSS21-20030915). We want to publish CSS 2.1 as a CR in about two weeks. Please let us know this week if you think our response is wrong. Your e-mail: http://www.w3.org/mid/200309282052.h8SKqWwA020953@nerd-xing.mit.edu Section 5.11.3 (The dynamic pseudo-classes: :hover, :active, and :focus) <http://www.w3.org/Style/css2-updates/WD-CSS21-20030915-diff/selector.html#dynamic-pseudo-classes> If an element is hovered, are its ancestors considered hovered? CSS WG response: Leaving this undefined for CSS21. Added that whether :hover and :active apply to ancestors is undefined. Added note at end of 5.11.3 about :active in CSS1 only applying to links.
