A good start would be CSS2, section 4.1.3 ,"Characters and case", <http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/syndata.html#q4>. Please stop sending to www-style questions that are easily answered by a check of reference materials. The list is for technical discussion that enhances or clarifies the Cascading Style Sheets specifications. Cross-posting to www-talk was flatly inappropriate.
