CSS2 @font-face dropped completly?

Hi everybody,

I am wondering what happend to the @font-face property in CSS3?
I can't find it in the CSS3 Module on fonts
http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-fonts/

Is there any new mechanism to import fonts not present on a users system?
