CSS3 specs using invalid XHTML samples

I'm a little surprised that most of the HTML examples in the css3 drafts are using old-style HTML code, with uppercase tags and unclosed tags, incomplete doctype declarations, etc.

In short the sample code generally won't pass validation. Shouldn't this be remedied?
