Your second demo did work, but somewhat differently in NS and MSIE. I've posted screen shots of both at: http://www.beachmedia.com/www/em1.gif http://www.beachmedia.com/www/em2.gif These are shot on Win95 at 80x600 resolution with small fonts (96ppi). Interesting bug.
