A new version of the Cascading Style Sheets specification [1] is available. There are only minor changes to CSS1, but the documentation has been strengthened and clarified. Changes from the Dec 22 version include: - 1.5 is proposed as a font scale factor instead of 1.4 - some colors names have been removed (magenta, cyan, pink) to make room for CNS - 'light-red' is changed to 'light ref' for the same reason - the 4th cascading rule has been eliminated - 'bg-position' has some new values: top|middle|bottom|left|center|right - 'list-item' value added to 'display' property - CSS1 conformance rules slightly reworded - the usage of the 'background' property clarified - 'text-indent' is now an inherited property - negative 'margin', 'letter-spacing' and 'word-spacing' values are being questioned - only one 'font-faily' value is allowed on the 'font' property - a section on how to format the canvas has been added - the table formatting model has been extended - 'BODY' is the recommended default selector - a section on the encoding of fonts have been added - a section on the "applicability and extensibility of CSS1" has been added Also, courtesy of Bert Bos, a description on how to convert from CSS to DSSSL has been started [2].
