Chapter 6.2.2 of the SMIL 2.0 Recommendation seems to me to be potentially confusing and confused. It refers, as an August 2001 Recommendation, to XLink as if a Recommendation were to be expected in the future, but in reality the XLink REC was finalised in June 2001. I assume the text was carried forward from an earlier 2.0 SMIL draft and not appropriately updated. Probably more significantly it refers to SMIL having element names corresponding to those in XLink. I assume that this, too, refers to an earlier draft of XLink where the XLink draft in fact did have XLink elements, unlike the final XLink Recommendation. It seems to me that the reference to SMIL 2.0 having element names the same as constructs from XLink needs to be revised. I would be grateful if these points could be reviewed and any necessary changes made. Thanks Andrew Watt
