SMIL can't read rm files

Hi all, just a quick question.  I just signed on and am new to SMIL to excuse me if this has been posted already, but I've got some .rm files that I want to play in seq.  I have a par, switch and seq tag in my smi file but when I try to play the smi file it says that it can't play that (rm) type of document.  Any ideas? BTW, my smi file is local and the files I'm trying to play are already online....would that matter?  Thanks in advance.
