FYI I've checked in fixes for the incompatibility issues that you mentioned. If you'd care to test you can either do an anonymous CVS checkout (cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/sesame, module openrdf, branch tag R1-0), or you can ask me and I'll send you a jar. We've followed Andy's approach: Sesame now allows <> around QNames (for backwards compatibility), but does not require them anymore. Also, commas are optional. We are probably going to revise the RDQL engine in Sesame completely in a future release (to make better use of several optimization strategies), so these fixes are a bit of a stop-gap to be honest.
