Strategic Research Investment, 2 Chairs and a Senior Lecturer
Centre for Computing Research, The Open University (UK)

Renowned as an international authority on supported open learning and 
for the quality of its teaching, the Open University also has a 
strong research tradition and record of achievement across a wide 
range of disciplines. To develop and enhance key research and 
curriculum areas the University is making a major investment in new 
posts, most of which are at senior level. Many of the posts are 
within new interdisciplinary Research Centres that bring together 
some of the best researchers from across the University. The posts 
offer outstanding academics the opportunity to work in a unique 
institution with an innovative curriculum and a vibrant research 
community.

Centre for Computing Research:

The Centre brings together key teams from the Department of 
Computing, the Knowledge Media Institute, and Institute of 
Educational Technology, and undertakes distinctive, leading edge 
research in software and processes that underpin knowledge 
management, communication, learning, and interaction among humans and 
machines. We are seeking to fill three new permanent posts

Chair in Computing
Chair in Human Computer Interaction
Senior Lecturer in Knowledge Media

to further enhance our existing strengths in these areas. Together, 
these posts will complement our portfolio of work in Knowledge Media, 
Semantic Web and Ontologies, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), 
Hypermedia, Software Requirements Engineering and Design, Natural 
Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Social Software, and 
Empirical Studies of Software Development.
