************** CALL FOR PARTICIPATION ********************** (We apologize if you receive multiple copies of this call) ICCC/IFIP Seventh International Conference on Electronic Publishing 25-28 June 2003 Guimarães, Portugal University of Minho http://www.dsi.uminho.pt/elpub2003/ ELPUB2003 is the 7th International Conference on Electronic Publishing, co- sponsored by the International Council for Computer Communication (ICCC) and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). This scientific annual conference explores a variety of subjects related to digital information and electronic publishing from both academic and commercial point of view. The objective of ELPUB2003 is to bring together researchers, managers, developers, and users working on the issues related to electronic publishing for public, scientific and commercial applications. We invite you to attend ELPUB2003 and promise you that it will be an excellent opportunity to exchange and broaden your knowledge and experiences of all the hottest topics in the area of electronic publishing. PROGRAMME The programme includes: - Papers’ presentation (General Track and Technical Track) - Tutorials and Workshops - Keynote Speakers Presentation - Open Access Session (sponsored by OSI) - Special Session (for Portuguese speakers) - Closing Plenary Note: Submissions of paper abstracts and posters have been closed. Elpub2003 is a truly international conference - We are pleased to announce that it will have speakers from the following 19 countries: Portugal, Brazil, Canada, Germany, USA, Angola, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Netherlands, New Caledonia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and UK. They will speak about the state of the art research in their field of research (please have a look at http://www.dsi.uminho.pt/elpub2003/programme.htm for more information). Furthermore, the special sessions will include the following speakers from Portugal, Brazil, Canada, Germany and USA: - José Borbinha (Biblioteca Nacional, Portugal) - Renato Sabbatini (UNICAMP, Brazil) - Leslie Chan (Bioline International, University of Toronto, Canada) - Roland Schwänzl (University of Osnabrück, Germany) - Melissa Hagemann (Open Society Institute, USA) - Mary Barton (MIT Libraries – DSpace at MIT, USA) - Vicky Reich (LOCKSS Program; Stanford Libraries, USA) - David Rosenthal (LOCKSS Program; Stanford Libraries, USA) REGISTRATION Registration for the conference, tutorial/workshops, etc. has started. Registration fees include proceedings, lunches, coffee breaks and conference dinner. Note: Different registration fees apply before and after the 2nd of June, 2003. SCHEDULE The tutorials/workshops are planned on the first day, the 25th (Wed) of June, 2003. All the other sessions will be held on the 26th (Thu) and 27th (Fri).
