The Jena team is pleased to announce a preview release of Jena2. This preview allows interested users to experiment with Jena2 and offer feedback to the developers, which will help us direct our efforts for further previews and the forthcoming beta releases. Jena2 is built on a revised internal architecture intended to support inferencing and "fast-track" query. It supports datatypes, preliminary RDFS inferencing models, and a new SPI for programmatic query interface. Jena2 can read and write XML/RDF, Ntriples, and N3 file formats. The data-typing and RDFS functionality pass the RDFCore Working Group tests. Current Jena users should note that the preview is not sufficently stable to attempt to migrate their applications to Jena2 yet: it does not support persistance, short-cut reification, or the DAML/OWL APIs. SPI details will change. The preview can be downloaded from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jena/Jena-2p1.zip?download or you can explore starting from http://sourceforge.net/projects/jena/ Discussion about the preview should be directed to jena-dev@yahoogroups.com; we're particularly interested in comments on the inferencing aspects of Jena2. regards, Chris "kers" Dollin for the Jena team.
