Stefan, In http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-rdf-interest/2001Jan/0176.html You raised an issue concerning the transitivity of subProperties of transitive properties. RDFCore has resolved this issue which is documented at: http://www.w3.org/2000/03/rdf-tracking/#rdfs-transitive-subSubProperty Resolution: The WG decided that a subProperty of a transitive property need not be transitive. Jan Grant provided an easy to understand counter example. ancestorOf is a transitive property. parentOf is a subProperty of ancestorOf. parentOf is not transitive. The issue has been closed. I you have any comments on the resolution, please send them to www-rdf-comments@w3.org. Brian McBride RDFCore co-chair
