[to www-rdf-calendar@w3.org, cc'ed to John Pacchetti, creator of the service] An online calendar sharing app, that takes advantage of RSS aggregators, announced on the RSS2-Support@yahoogroups.com list. It is presented rather nicely. When you have added events using a form, they appear in an RSS 2.0 feed, mostly escaped into the
, here's an example:

[Get Out of Bed]

Date: 8/1/2004
Duration: 0.0 hrs

The ritual of cat-removal and standing up, closely associated with coffee.

- Import to MS Outlook
- Contact Danny

Sign Up at RSSCalendar.com

The description is unescaped in most aggregators, and the "Import to MS Outlook" link returns a file like this, type "text/x-vCalendar" : BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:1.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART:20040801T110000Z DTEND:20040801T110000Z SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Get Out of Bed DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The ritual of cat-removal and standing up, closely associated with coffee. Location;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:RSSCalendar.com UID:1004220040801T110000ZGet Out of Bed PRIORITY:3 BEGIN:VALARM TRIGGER:PT15M ACTION:DISPLAY DESCRIPTION:Reminder END:VALARM End:VEVENT End:VCALENDAR Anyone care to try expressing this in RDF/iCal to appear in an more machine-readable form in a RSS 1.0 feed, see if John might be willing to add that as an alternative? John - here's the RdfCalendar Wiki page: http://esw.w3.org/topic/RdfCalendar See also, another RSS 2.0 based calendar app: http://dannyayers.com/archives/002304.html Cheers, Danny. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [RSS2-Support] Announcement: RSSCalendar.com BETA Date: Sat, 31 Jul 2004 15:52:35 -0500 From: John Pacchetti <jpac@charter.net> Reply-To: RSS2-Support@yahoogroups.com To: <RSS2-Support@yahoogroups.com> I've been a fan of RSS for quite a while, however I could never find a service that allowed you to share calendar feeds with your family or friends. So I built one - this was a fun project. I've recently launched the site in BETA and would appreciate any feedback on the service. Thanks! It's located at www.rsscalendar.com With best regards, John Pacchetti ------------------------------------- RSSCalendar E-mail: john@rsscalendar.com http://www.rsscalendar.com ------------------------------------- ------------------------ Yahoo!
