This area of functionality is partially covered by Issue 228: 228. default-namespace-functions: Should we keep the default function namespace, and the xf: namespace? http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery/#default-namespace-functions This issue was still marked as open in the May 2 drafts since the XML Query and XSL WGs had different interim resolutions to this issue.
