Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

The Math Working Group charter[1] is hereby extended until 13 April 2026.

The mission of the Math Working Group is to promote the inclusion of
mathematics on the Web so that it is a first class citizen of the web
that displays well and is accessible.

The group has made progress on its deliverables and there is even
software that implements them so far (both MathML Core in browsers and
MathML 4 in other programs). However, progress has proved to be more
challenging than anticipated, primarily due to the technical
complexities involved in making MathML more accessible, and limited
allocation of resources.

This extension allows the group to work on a new charter while
maintaining progress on current deliverables.

More information about the Math Working Group can be found on its
summary page[2], including information about group Chairs, Staff Contact
and instructions for joining the group.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact
Bert Bos <bert@w3.org>, Staff Contact for the Math Working Group.

This extension follows section 4.6 of the W3C Process Document:
https://www.w3.org/policies/process/20250818/#charter-extension

Thank you,

For Philippe le Hegaret, VP, Technical Strategy,
Bert Bos, Staff Contact for the Math Working Group;
Xueyuan Jia, Manager, Member Communications
