Re: A new MathML-native preview site for arXiv

Hello everyone,

When I announced the ar5iv site in our W3C Math group meeting three
weeks ago, I remember stating:

"The near future may surprise you."

I am happy to report today that the surprise is a pleasant one. arXiv
has decided to adopt the ar5iv HTML content, and its wealth of MathML,
under its "Labs" umbrella.
We will continue to work jointly from here, until the generated HTML
meets the quality criteria for living alongside the main PDF article
view.

You can find the official announcement from arXiv at:
https://blog.arxiv.org/2022/02/21/arxiv-articles-as-responsive-web-pages/

Two key enabling features that played a part here were aiming for
"accessible" and "responsive" articles.
To that extent, MathML Intent as well as MathML reflow (aka "line
breaking"), will undoubtedly be of significant emphasis in the future.

Greetings,
Deyan
