David -- That list of reasons was in the specific context of authoring dtd's. An authoring DTD is worth the effort of careful construction. Regarding MathML, it might be helpful if one knew what kind of authoring DTDs people will actually be using. Has anybody in the MathML group ever tested non-default processing of "α"? If so, with what? For example, has anybody tried to render MathML on a terminal the way "Maple" renders math on a terminal? If so, what is done with "α"? Has it been agreed that the MathML group will produce a public dtd for voyager+mathml? -- Bill
