Thanks all, for the replies! 1) No, the JigKill "timeout" is sometimes forever. I've given it a few minutes sometimes and it's just in a loop. However, I have not had this problem in the last day, so I'm not complaining. 2) The server is now hunting to index.html. I think I wasn't reindexing the resources properly, because I noticed that after adding a new resource after making the global default change, that it worked on that directory only. So I reindexed the older resource and it suddenly worked like a charm. (I may be wrong - if so, it was a happy coincidence.) 3) As far as GIFs hanging up the browser, I changed the GIF extension's quality to 1.0 (instead of 0.9 which seemed to be the default) and that problem also cleared up. (This may also be a coincidence.) 4) I installed the IBM JDK at some of your recommendations, and it seemed faster. Then I saw that Sun just released JDK 1.2.2, and the benchmarks claimed with HotSpot the new JDK was quicker than the IBM 1.1.7 JDK, so I downloaded that (what a busy downloading day on a 56k modem, eh?) and lo and behold it's actually faster. So now I'm quite pleased - now I wish I could get rid of these Java DOS boxes and replace them with cutesy little systray icons. :o] Thanks again! Now it's time for some dev. -- mike c -- octomedia
