r12a has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity: == rb and rtc non-conforming in html5.1 == 11.2. Non-conforming features https://www.w3.org/TR/html51/obsolete.html#ref-for-elementdef-rb-21 > `<rb>` > > `<rtc>` > > Providing the ruby base directly inside the ruby element or using nested ruby elements is sufficient. I just noticed this text. It seems to have been imported from the WhatWG spec. We disagree that these elements are non-conforming. They were added to HTML in HTML5. In fact, the CSS folks are counting on them being around in the future for CSS ruby features to work. That text should be removed. See https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/215 Please do NOT reply to this email. If you'd like to contribute to the discussion, please do so at the above link. You will need to subscribe yourself to the issue (using the button provided by that page) to receive notifications of further comments.
