Since authoring tools are going to allow users to define classes using their native languages, perhaps the authoring tools could also canonicalize the names so there is no mismatch? That is, HTML should be defined as 'conformant applications use exact match on sequence of characters in the document character set' and if some authoring tool wants to be forgiving and allow 'Class' = 'CLASS', it's the tool's responsibility to canonicalize.
