Martin, Of course anyone can subscribe to a mailing list. My concerns are that here are a lot of people who will never subscribe to that list, or will never participate. Also, since as I understand it, w3-i18n is *strictly* concerned with internet issues, but many of the participants already are interested in and participating in a wider discussion. I wouldn't want to either see the discussion limited due to its presence on a w3 list, nor would I want to dilute the w3's purpose. Anyway, the discussion is already spread over several threads and several lists. They can stay where they are but all also be archived on my site in the same place. Also, Martin, www.i18n.com is not a mailing list - it is a web site that covers the news of the Global Software industry. I would like to expose the thoughtful comments to a wider audience, to reduce the mystery of what we do. i18n.com is also free - one need not register to read or even participate at all, although here are some features just for registered users. Registering is even easier than signing up for a mailing list - merely provide your email address, click on the register button, and get your password in the mail. While I can certainly set things up to happen without anybody's specific effort or intervention, I encourage you to do so directly as there will be benefits if you do. Participation on the site earns "karma points" which can be accumulated as a metric of expertise. Later, look for karma points to be redeemable with the vendors you know and love in some way... Best, Barry Caplan www.i18n.com
